Community Support

Dress for Success

Mills has been an active supporter of Dress for Success for over 13 years. Dress for Success Vancouver is a local not-for-profit affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide that provides disadvantaged women with professional attire, confidence, career development and a network of support when entering the workforce to help them thrive in work and life.

Clients come to Dress for Success from non-profit organizations, homeless shelters, domestic violence agencies, and job training organizations. 100% of their clients live below the poverty line and more than 70% are single mothers. Mills supports this organization because of its efficient management of resources and its tremendous success rate to help women better their situation. Through Mills support, Dress for Success has put over 100 women through their three programs. Mills contributes to Dress for Success in the following ways: Provides office supplies and printing services along with an annual sponsorship ($25,000 and Mills provides marketing support for their fundraising campaigns.

The Cleaning Solution

This social enterprise has provided many individuals recovering from mental illness with a path back to the mainstream workforce, enabling them to rebuild their confidence, sense of purpose, and quality of life. Mills uses the Cleaning Solution for all our janitorial services for our head office at 1111 Clark Drive, Vancouver BC. We have been supporting their services since 2006.

Megaphone’s goal is to provide a voice and an economic opportunity for homelessness and low- income people while building grassroots support to end poverty. Megaphone is a magazine sold on the streets of Vancouver and Victoria by homeless and low-income vendors. Vendors buy the paper for 75 cents and sell the magazine for $2. All the money from the transaction goes into the pocket of the vendors. Mills provides a yearly sponsorship towards Megaphone, since they are giving residents a help out vs. a handout, which provides dignity and self – confidence to the vendors.
