The Cleaning Solution
This social enterprise has provided many individuals recovering from mental illness with a path back to the mainstream workforce, enabling them to rebuild their confidence, sense of purpose, and quality of life. Mills uses the Cleaning Solution for all our janitorial services for our head office at 1111 Clark Drive, Vancouver BC. We have been supporting their services since 2006.
Megaphone’s goal is to provide a voice and an economic opportunity for homelessness and low- income people while building grassroots support to end poverty. Megaphone is a magazine sold on the streets of Vancouver and Victoria by homeless and low-income vendors. Vendors buy the paper for 75 cents and sell the magazine for $2. All the money from the transaction goes into the pocket of the vendors. Mills provides a yearly sponsorship towards Megaphone, since they are giving residents a help out vs. a handout, which provides dignity and self – confidence to the vendors.
Mills is a part of the first cohort of the United Way Social Purpose Business Innovators Lab. With the United Way of the Lower Mainland we are doing strategic work and piloting the tools to refine our Social Purpose.
