Mills Joins the B Corp Movement!
In 2012, Mills became the first office supply company in Canada to be designated as a Certified B Corporation. Mills believes that businesses are responsible for driving positive change while operating in a sustainable manner. As a Certified B-Corporation, Mills has proven itself to have broader aspirations than simply achieving profit and are accountable for the welfare of our employees, the community, and the environmental impact of every business decision we make.
There are over 4,100 B Corporations in 77 countries, covering 153 industries, all with the unifying goal to use their business as a force for good. B Lab, a nonprofit organization, certifies B Corporations the same way TransFair certifies Fair Trade coffee or USGBC certifies LEED buildings. To be designated and achieve B-Corp status, a business must achieve a benchmark score based on multiple categories that is difficult for most companies to obtain and signals the authenticity of a “Environmentally/Socially responsible company” vs those that utilize “greenwash” for marketing purposes.
